Palestinian man killed in renewed Israeli aerial raids

GAZA, (PIC)-- A Palestinian fighter of the national brigades, the armed wing of the democratic front, was killed on Sunday in a fresh wave of Israeli air raids on the Gaza Strip, medical sources reported.

Adham Abu Salmiya, the spokesman for medical services, told the PIC that the man was killed east of Rafah in the afternoon and that another was critically injured.

The Israeli raid violated the Egyptian brokered ceasefire in Gaza following a flare-up caused by Israeli raids on Saturday that killed nine members of the Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad.

Meanwhile, the government of Ismail Haneyya held the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) fully responsible for the result of its military escalation on the coastal enclave.

Taher Al-Nunu, the government’s spokesman, told the PIC that the IOA was trying to prove its strength following the prisoners’ exchange deal.

He appreciated the Egyptian efforts to mediate a halt to the aggression on the Palestinian people, noting that contacts were underway between Gaza and Cairo since the early moments of the attacks.
